None of this was in my blood.

I was born and bred in post-communist Poland. I didn’t have family or friends in the right places. I never quite knew what to do with my money other than to spend it.

And boy, did I spend it!

I used to be a financially promiscuous queen of emotional spending.

Let’s throw cancer into the mix.

Back in 2013 (told you I’ve been doing this a while), my life was upended by a diagnosis of late stage cancer. When you’re considering each day if you’re going to be around next year you begin to look at life differently.  I wanted to make sure my mum had a pension and would be taken care of if the unthinkable happened.

So as any sane person would do in my situation, I invested in three properties and became a landlord. Sounds sumptuous, right?

To make matters worse the letting agent who was hired to manage my properties treated my them as their charity organisation and it didn't end well for me. Like, all three properties empty, two of them also damaged type of not well.

I found myself bawling my eyes out being a signature away from declaring bankruptcy.

And then I decided to change it ALL.

Since 2013 I bought just shy of £1.9 million worth of properties for myself as well as for my investors and I co-own multiple property businesses and joint ventures.

I went from being £25k in debt and on the brink of bankruptcy to being financially secure (AKA not having to work anymore to pay for my basic needs) in less than 5 years.

Although I always were inclined towards building a business that would allow me the freedom to pursue my passions, travel and spend a few months at a time in my native country - Lazy Profit Lab was born after I found out I was pregnant with my little boy. I had 7 months to prepare my property businesses to run without me in the picture.

This idea has turned into an obsession and that's how Devilishly Passive Business was created.
